Yeah, the Dungeon Crawl Classics are a lot of fun. I HIGHLY recommend the Crypt of the Devil Lich when it comes out in November. I played that adventure in the tournament at GenCon. I haven't had that much fun in years.
As for the $2 adventure, I'll just buy it at my local game store. I'd rather pay $2 and get the printed module rather than a PDF. Just my 2 cents though...
