Google Docs recently made a number of improvements, including real time collaboration (think Google Wave) and Chat...

There is some potential for using this to run a game online I think - though I have never done so myself (played online) so I'm not sure. I thought I would drop the video in here and ask those of you who do...

I don't see these improvements in Google docs replacing some of the other tools already out there for online gaming yet. Maybe from a possible supplement to an existing tool or method of online gaming, i.e. a shareable document that folks can edit during the course of an online game, but not a replacement.

For play-by-post a site like Myth Weavers has one pretty covered with lots of tools and control to help a person playing a play-by-post. I could see linking to a shareable google doc though for some background management that wasn't working well in a thread.

Several of the VTTs out there can do an impressive amount of things for online gaming via either chat or VoIP with map access and macro systems to help things flow. I don't see Google Docs replacing one of these tools already out there either.

I definitely think Google Docs are cool and I think these improvements are a good thing, but I think there are already better tools for online gaming than Google Docs is going to provide.
