So who's started playing with google talk

talk.google.com for those who don't know. You'll need a gmail signup to use it. Just post me your email address, I've got a bunch to burn through if you need an invite.

While I like Google and some of the services they provide, I tend to use Trillian these days to let me keep in touch with people on various chat networks. Google Talk will need a feature like that before I switch to their client.

I've tried trillian in the past and wasn't terribly impressed. For basic chatting it works fine, if trillian users aren't being blocked from MSN or such. For more advanced features, like webcams and voice chat, trillian doesn't perform as well as the official client. IMO ofcourse

These days I mostly stick to MSN at home and AIM at work. I have pretty much abandoned my favourite, ICQ, because I don't have anyone to talk to.

Gtalk is nice and simple. There is no bloat like all of the other IM programs have these days. It's only missing a few features that I'd like. Toss in file transfer and I might consider ditching MSN... Gtalk definitly takes up less space on my task bar.
