Goraki--like most dwarfs--loves gold, ale, and fine craftsmanship.
Personally, he distrusts elves and magic. He loathes goblins,
kobolds, and other small, beady-eyed creatures. He has an affinity
for gems and does not like giving them up once he has them. He
secretly admires the physical form of female halflings, as well as
their cooking.
He is an accomplished dungeoneerer and no stranger to the dangers
that lurk under the earth. At the same time his pragmatism, eye
for danger, and crossbow skills translate well to above-ground
situations. He has a strong sense of duty, tradition, and fairness.
He is suspicious towards strangers, unless they are dwarfs. His
frankness and rough language may make him seem unkind at times, but
he has a good heart and does not like seeing innocent or helpless
creatures suffer. He is not afraid to get dirty, either with mud
or blood. Even so, the thought of undead makes him uncomfortable.
The thought of dwarven undead is abhorrent. He is comfortable
leading in situations where he is confident in his skills. He is
ready to follow orders if they are given by someone he trusts to be
competent.
When making decisions, he really likes to weigh his options. When
pressed to make decisions quickly, he follows his gut and
rationalizes it later. He usually has a serious demeanor, but is
tickled by puns and cleverness with words. He loves to drink ale,
even human ale if he can get enough of it. Once he's had a few he
can become boisterous, cheerful, and even playful.
His uncle owns a mining operation, which has been quite successful
in procuring silver ore and raw rubies from the depths. Goraki
spent his youth in the depths under the earth, working. There he
learned the mining trade and the value of labor, skill, and close
kin. However, as the dwarves broadened and deepened their mines in
the search for more wealth, he also learned of the dangers of the
deep. Hazardous cave formations and hostile creatures eventually
became a possibility of every-day life. When he came of age he was
selected to be among those mapping new tunnels, identifying
dangers, and tracking & exterminating vermin (lesser humanoid
creatures and monsters that live underground). This is the
profession which formed his current ranger skill-set.
Precious metals and gems are never out of style. Because of this,
Goraki and his clan know their mines will not last forever. Some
of the more resourceful dwarfs have been sent out as
prospectors--scouts of sorts--to locate new areas for outposts and
possible sources of wealth to secure a future for his clan, and all
of dwarfkind. The disappearance of the Nezumi present an especially
unique opportunity. Goraki volunteered to be one of those
forerunners.

Dwarfs live a long time, and Goraki expects this particular task
to last a couple decades or more, and plans to be careful to live
long enough to complete it. In the meantime, he must sustain
himself and maintain his equipment. This opens the doors for all
kinds of opportunities, encounters, friendships and adventures to
occur...
He is stoutly built and looks strong for his size. His dark brown beard is
quite thick and reaches down to his waist. When entering a new room,
he always blinks a few times, as if adjusting to the light. He wears a
shining short-sleeved chain mail shirt over a slate-gray tunic. His backpack
looks quite full and has a bedroll strapped to the top of it. There is a
large steel shield attached to the backpack, as well as a conical helmet.
On his belt hangs a very well made dwarven waraxe, as well as a quiver
packed with bolts. In his hands is a light crossbow, unloaded, also well
made and inlaid with silver scroll work. He has sturdy looking but worn
leather boots. His face and hands look somewhat dirty, or tanned. It's hard
to tell.
