Still no good. I'm working under the assumption that things are holistic, and that there is only one Orcus out there (I could go into that more, but that'd lead to a whole other debate).

You really have only yourself to blame for that then, don't you? I mean WotC haven't been trying to do that at all with 3e, so you can hardly expect them to make it consistant to make life easier for you?

They haven't been actively going out of their way to do that, but they haven't been trying to kill it either. The holistic setting is still the default one. Even for FR, there is a case to be made that it still uses the old planar setting (we've had some huge debates on the WotC FR forums about that).

As for consistency...well, yes I do expect that. This isn't a major issue, asking them to stick with one basic write up of a major NPC. Maybe I'm being foolishly idealistic, but that's just my style.
