Grand History of the Realms

I hate to sound all canon-fascist (It can kind of come from my main fandom: Star Wars Expanded Universe), but is this official?
Right now? No.

But coming from Brian R. James, it is one of the best things you can get, besides Ed Greenwood's word.

I mean he has compiled the GHotR and his FR stuff for Dragon was always excellent - he's definitively a FR expert, buff and fan.

In other words: In absence of any contradicting canon, go with him, seriously.

Cheers, LT.

In my opinion there should be less history that is canon, and more left up to creativity. Present us with more options, not more stuff that is official.

I had run an on-line game based in the Realms, and although I clearly stated that the only book that was to be used was the Campaign Setting book, people had often told me who and what should be where. Having too much official information available can be a detriment to DMs and players who would rather rely on their own imagination.

That being said, there should be as many as possible novels and books on the subject. Just don't make them canonical. perhaps even multiple timelines than can allow for different scenarios (and more books).

Thanks for telling me. It's good stuff though. Hope it does eventually become official.
