Heretic of The Seventh Circle
You can also "kill" a Dragon in mortal form and they will be fine, because Polymorph. A weird teaching method, but there you go.
I did that recently with a test to gain access to a secret chamber of a library, which would basically obligate the party to join a shadow war against Tiamat and Shar.

The Master Scribe of the library appeared to be an adult bronze dragon, they had to fight her in a sort of arena where she had lair actions, and when they dropped her to zero she dropped out of Shapechange, revealing that she was in fact an ancient wyrm.

Legend
I was just doing a little reading and never realized that both D&D and the Final Fantasy video game series appropriated the name of Bahamut from Arabian mythology. Not the description, though, just the name, as it appears it is D&D that originates Bahamut as a dragon.
It's Arabic and Hebrew. He is the Behemoth from the story of Jonah and the Whale. Bahamut is the later Arabic version of the same being. Tiamat is related to Leviathan. It's all very interesting in watching how these archetypes changed. Both are also related to Messiah as well.
