gray ooze and normal weapons?

Hi -

Do normal weapons damage a gray ooze before being possibly destroyed by its acid?

The MM says IMMEDIATELY destroyed upon contact. Damage first, or is it immune to normal damage w/o successful save?

It doesn't say anything about not taking damage, so I'd say it takes damage, regardless of whether the weapon survives or not.


Is it just me or does "dissolves immediately" sound a little too potent for acid dealing 1d6 damage?

Yeah, I mean, what if I made a Hulking Hurler/War Hulk build, and took Throw Anything feat, and I threw the world at a gray ooze and voluntarily failed the save. Would the world then instantly disolve?

I've gotten in the habit of carrying a stone maul with big bad fighter types for those nasty oozes. The rules for stone weaponry are in the Arms & Equipment guide. Anyone know of a 3.5 ruleset for primitive weaponry?
