Great Villain Showdown: Final Four [Results Posted]

1. Joker

2. Darth Vader

The Joker is Chaos. He is the bull elephant in the china shop. He is also the not-so quiet mockery of everything man has built, from societies to skyscrapers to individual relationships. And he is just plain scary.

Vader is Order. He is the Machine that rules over men. He is the Empire men chose to avoid ruling their own destiny. And he is just plain scary.

One thing about both Moriarty and Lecter. You can reason with them. There is NO reasoning with the Joker or Vader. Their motives are inscrutable. Their wills are unassailable. (Yes, I am assuming a sharp discontinuity between Vader and Anakin, Obi-wan did, so I'm on somewhat proven ground)

My prediction was not who would ultimately win. Only that the final round would be Joker vs. Vader.

Come to think of it, imagine if in episode VI Luke pulled off Vader's mask, and revealed the Joker's face. The Joker says "Sucker!", sprays Luke with Joker gas (killing him) and springs up to do more random evil (he was only playing possum).

Ok, here's my prediction: Vader will win.

And don't let Lucas read your idea. That'll probably be the new ending in the "Special Special Edition." ;)

If it comes down to the two it looks like, it'll be a good match. But vader has one negative going in, he redeemed himself and theres a reason why he is the way he is. Theres no reason for pyschosis, for being a complete nutcase whom likes violence. For wanting the joke. I can't wait for the next round and I hope my nominee does well.

1. The Joker. Both are nightmarish psychotic monsters, but while Hannibal is dressed in the trappings of culture and civilisations, Joker ditched such pretensions. He is chaos, madness and psychosis personified, and has hurt the otherwise unassailable Batman so many times, in so many ways. Both of them, I have to say, scare me, but Joker is a FRICKIN' ICON, and gets my vote.

2. Darth Vader. We were talking about icons? Show me one that is more instantly recognisable, famous or loved amongst villains than Darth Vader?
