Great Wayne Renolds Art that Dragon would never use for a cover

(because the image is not a headshot or torso of a humanoid.) A shame too.

Looking at the back issue ad in dragon shows how little diversity in the cover art composition there really is. Its a shame. Who would buy an Art of Dragon Magazine book based on current coverart?

I could be wrong, but I believe that that first shot is for Warlords or was in one of the Reaper magazines.

Ah, some action at least instead of, "Hey, look how cool I am!"

I'd love to see Wayne do a tribute to the old chess piece covers that Dragon used to do.

Hmm.. that is an interesting observation. I wonder how long it will hold true...

Whistles quietly.. waiting for #331. :-)

But the point is still valid in that Dragon doesn't seem to do anything but head/torso covers anymore. It is really a shame too Dragon sported some of the most beautiful artwork of the 80's on its covers.

When you get a chance I hope you can check out Dragon issues #326, #328, and #329 for covers that might be more along the lines of what you're asking for. One could even argue that the cover for #330 is a departure from conventional magazine wisdom. I'm not sure what Erik and Sean (our art director) have in mind, but I believe they want to experiment with running more pictures that tell a story, like those mentioned above. :)

As always, let us know what you like and dislike. Every bit of feedback helps. :)

Jason, you evil (and brilliant) dog, you! :)

The funny thing is, each of those artworks SCREAMS "1980's DRAGON magazine" to me. The style really does take me back.
