Greater Bestow Curse - Transmutation?

I was looking through Complete Divine to see if there were any good necromancy spells for a dread necromancer to take with advanced learning. I came across the Greater Bestow spell, which looks awesome. There's only one problem - it's transmutation! This is extremely odd, especially since the normal bestow curse spell is necromancy!

Please, somebody tell me this is a typo!

Eh, might not be. TBH Bestow curses should be multischool spells or broken into multiple spells of varying schools.

Spell Compendium also has GBC and it indeed is marked as necromancy.

And since Spell Compendium is newer, it trumps Complete Divine. So necromancy it is.

I suspect that the spell in Complete Divine was simply a copy/paste from the Book of Vile Darkness, a 3.0 book. At the time, Bestow Curse was a Transmutation, so the greater version was similarly schooled. The spell(s) changed over to be Necromancy with the 3.5 switch, whence the confusion arises.
