I don't think I understand this spell. Is the only way to "escape" an attack to ready an action to do so? How is this particularly good? Some examples would be handy too.

The main upgrade is that the caster no longers suffers the 20% miss chance on his own spells and attacks. The ready action to escape an attack thing would be most useful if you expect one nasty spell or attack and have the ability to quicken another spell so your action isn't totally wasted.

Ahh, I think I get it now. All attacks and spells against you (that can't strike ethereal creatures) have a 50% miss chance. Your own spells and attacks have no miss chance. You can, if you wish, ready an action to go ethereal against an attack, making their miss chance 100%. Sounds about right?

Yeah, it does.

Another great feature is, that you can move ethereally for a full move on your turn, unlike the lesser version, where you have to roll for every 5 feet you pass through solid matter.

It's also good to remember, that the miss chance is only 20% if the attacker can see invisible or strike ethereal beings (and 0% if the attacker can both).
