Greater Magic Weapon 3.5

So do you guys think GMW is going to be even worth using with the beefing up of DR and the lowered benefit?

From the article in Dragon...

"...we've made some tweaks to the spell to make it more useful..."

They don't say what those tweaks are though.

Still, a spell that gives a bonus to hit and damage really can't be sneezed at.

Also mentioned is a spell called align weapon, which is supposed to help with things whose DR is based on, well, alignment.

Re: Magic Fang for Cleric.
It's perfectly legal and by the book for the character to research a "new" cleric spell 'Improved Natural Weapons' which simply uses the Magic Fang stats.

It's also perfectly legal and by the book for the DM to disallow it. All spell research occurs at the DM's discretion, after all.

Personally, I think researching spells should be done for the purpose of creating completely new spell effects, not simply filling in holes in the spell list. There's a reason why clerics don't get fireball, and wizards don't get cure spells. It's all about niche protection.

Nice to know, buy my beaf has always been more with the duration. So ok now +5 happens at level 20 instead of 15, and at 12th your at +2 instead of +4, it weakns it a bit, but ti still goes for all day if they didn't alter the duration.
I'm considering changing my home game so GMW, as well as the psionic powers Metaphysical Weapon and Lesser Metaphysical Weapon have a duration of 1 min/level instead of 1 hour per level. That would pretty much reduce the duration to one battle instead of all day. It would also reduce the much-touted brokenness of archery, since the archer would now either need to actually invest mucho money in magic arrows or have GMW cast once per encounter.
