Greater or "better" doppleganger

Is there a beefed up version of a doppleganger in one of WoTC's source books? I thought I remember seeing one but can't remember where I saw it.

There's the Ethereal Doppleganger...its either in Monsters of Faerun or MMII. I believe its in the former, but I'm not sure.

Ethereal doppleganger is either in MM2 or FF; Greater Doppleganger is in MoF.

I'm at work so don't have time to check where,

But in one of the Forgotten Realms 2nd ed supplements (Maybe Waterdeep Box Set) a Greater Doppleganger was introduced (NE i think). It was also printed in one of the FR Monster Supplements.

I don't know if it has ever been reprinted in 3rd ed, maybe check Monsters of Faerun.

Since you can now easily add class levels to monsters, they may have decided the greater doppleganger is no longer needed.
