Greatest Character Showdown Round 6 (Results IN)

I am a bit surprised that neither a LotR character or a SW character is still in it. Several key LotR characters didn't even get nominated (Aragorn, Frodo, possibly Elrond). And Conan out, that's a bit surprising. Must be vote rigging :).

I think the nomination process would have been more interesting had a character needed four or five votes after being nominated in order to get on the ballot. That would have weeded out some of the weaker noms and given a better "best" list to start with.

I would also be curious to see how things would go if voting was done in a Survivor vote off who you don't want fashion.

It should be said that this format produces sort of random, chaotic feel where upsets and surprises are possible, and makes it a bit intriguing. I'm ok with that. Darth Vader getting knocked out in the first round--that was cool!

I loved the way this was set up. What would have also been interesting to see is a battle royal styled elimination round instead of it being solely one on one battles. For instance, round one could have had 13 groupings of 10 people, and only 5 people from each group would have passed onto the next round.

The only problems with this method are that it would have required more book keeping and would have been extremely problematic in the long run. As far as pay-off is conserned, people would have probably been more satisfied since there would be little chance for "weak choices" to progress past the first round, but at the same time there would have not been as many shocking victories.

I just want to say that this has been the most exciting round for actually tallying votes. I never would have thought Odysseus could have kept pace nearly vote for vote with Batman for as long as he did. Anyways:

1. Captain Jack Sparrow[6] vs. Indiana Jones[25]
2. Odysseus[15] vs. Batman[18]

Final round up on Monday. While the characters will be randomly paired as always, I think the safe money is on Indy vs. Batman.

The Odysseus-Batman tally was indeed exciting. Batman raced to a huge lead but Odysseus unbelievably caught up. It was a late spurt by Batman that secured the win.

Great heart by the cunning warrior.

Awesome baby!

The final is going to be good... What is interesting is that both Indiana Jones and Batman represent archetypes that came into being during the 1930s – 1940s. In essence, this battle is the battle of the pulp heroes!
