Green Dragon

Yup. That's a goofy looking dragon.
When I read what they were considering for the Green Dragon in W&M, I presumed a more serpentine look (due to the mention of snake fangs, etc for the venom / poison idea they are now focused around). The new green dragon design (if that *is* the new design? maybe it is not too late for them to make a change or three?) does not in any way get across the idea of venom / poison. I can't even see the fangs they were speaking about in W&M, so perhaps that idea was scrapped?

:sigh: A fanged, serpentine dragon would have been very enjoyable. I could see it living in rain forests, swamps, etc, using coloration to blend in so as to move close before the sudden strike, the bite causing horrific poison damage in addition to the normal bite damage. Perhaps like some snakes (and even a few lizards) it might even have bit and immediately released, trailing the now progressively weakening prey as it attempted to escape, attacking again and consuming it once it was nearly dead (or recently deceased).

That would have made for a cool idea for the green dragon. What we seem to have perhaps gotten instead seems silly enough that I may have to reconsider using the green dragon - or at least redesign it if used in my worlds / campaigns. As I don't use miniatures that shouldn't be a problem. (A vivid imagination and using dice for placeholders on white-boards works just as well if not better, I've discovered.)

Meh. It looks fine to me. I guess you have to have *loved* previous editions' art to be personally offended by the new green dragon.

The breath weapon is a poison gas, right? Maybe it "breathes" the gas out through the various horns. Their arrangement seem like they'd do a good job of dispersing the gas in a cloud centered on the dragon...

That minature makes me gag...fortunately I will never have to use it for a Green Dragon as I have another miniature for it - that is also significantly larger.

Well, if it's any consolation, Worlds and Monsters makes it pretty explicit that of the chromatics, the only one that got a makeover was the Green dragon. It's partly due to the change in its breath weapon to a poisonous gas (they commented that everything about the dragon should scream "poison -- get away!"), and also because of the chromatics, the Green had the most "generic dragon" look to it.
:\ So because the green dragon looks like a dragon should, they changed it.

I'm usually pretty positive, but, wow, that's one UGLY mini. The cover art on the book isn't too bad, although, I'd rather they went more towards the MacFarlane dragons. Those ROCK!

Your image link was broken for me, but it inspired me to find a picture elsewhere. I have to say, after seeing it, I get what they were going for, and the cover art is not bad at all. I like it.

But the mini? Yeesh. From every angle we've seen so far---between the nose and the mouth and the apparent head to body proportions---it's either incredibly poor execution or SO post-modern that it should be a character in a webcomic somewhere...
