Green-eyed elves only others eye colors need not apply?

Thanks.

Why is it that elves -- who are apparently normally identical, apparently -- fragment so quickly into sub-races? Few other races get this treatment in most settings... so why elves?

This is nothing more than a Greyhawk-ism for the description of a High Elf.

If you're not using Greyhawk -ignore it. Back when 3E came out they were claiming Greyhawk would be the official setting and as such all the flavor text in the core books was set for it.

Of course we know better now, given all those reams of still in print Greyhawk products we've seen in the past 3 years ( ), but the flavor text is still there.

I could have sworn there was a second variation of the high elf ...

I remember the dark hair/green eyes, but I also thought there was a blond hair/--------- (blue eyes?)
