Green Slime

Is it just me, or is the DMG VERY vague on how to use Green slime.

It says that it can drop down from the ceiling onto a character, but does not tell how this happens game mechanic wise.

I needed something, so I gave alert characters a Reflex save DC 12 to avoid it. Unaware characters were subject to a touch attack at +0 BaB.

Just the whole section was really weak. I'd like some better rules for this. And what happeded to all the cool slimes from 1e AD&D. Didn't they used to move and attack?

Treat it like an acid trap. Green slime can't really move IIRC, so it would be used to drop or spray on someone (or could fill say a pit). Just use appropriate DCs for wherever it happens to be. Not the greatest feedback, but the DMG leaves it pretty open.

I actually had touch attacks back in 1st edition, because it just didn't make sense that green slime could eat through armor but had to roll above you AC from armor to hit you.

I'd go with a touch attack or with the rules for acid spray as above.
