Greyhawk by another publisher?

There are only two companies who I'd trust enough to buy Greyhawk goodies from sight unseen:

Paizo, under Erik's iron fist.

or Troll Lord, under Gary's fatherly gaze.

From anyone else, even WotC themselves, I'll wait for the reviews.

Nod. Anything with Erik or Gary's name on it, I trust, no matter which company publishes it.

The other game company I trust Goodman Games, who put out the DCC's (Dungeon Crawl Classics).

At this point, I'm more inclined to trust people to handle GH right than any company, per se: I trust Paizo because Erik and James and Lisa Stevens are there, and because they work with a cadre of GH-savvy freelancers (like Steve Greer, Gary Holian, and Denis Tetreault, among others). If those folks weren't at Paizo, I wouldn't necessarily trust Paizo to publish GH properly.

With you 100%.

I'm not Erik, but I play him on T.V. ;)

The Pathfinder Adventure Paths will all be set on Golarion, Paizo's campaign world that the Pathfinder Chronicles are set in, although each path (as well as each GameMastery Module) could/will be set in different regions/areas of that world.

As for 4E, I think Mike McArtor said on paizo.com messageboards that the first two paths for sure will be 3.5E. After that, no decision has been made.

Rightly or wrongly - for better or worse - (and in my opinion FAR for the better), Greyhawk and the SEAL OF LEGITIMACY belongs to Erik Mona and his henchmen at Paizo.

If they were to write it - I would buy it in a heartbeat. If they were not, I don't think I would lend much legitimacy to the effort.

. But IMHO, there is a middle road to make a profit and occasionally make a move that while not neccessarily a huge money-spinner, shows that they do care about and value their fans.
More likley than not there are, or at least were, folks at WotC with goals like that. Sadly that middle road does not show up on the Ha$Borg road map to Profits.

A major problem with licensing out Greyhawk would be that of several of the named characters (Bigby/Iuz/Tenser/etc). From the sounds of the 4th edition stuff I've read (and I have admittedly not read most of it), those names will be used in the new setting, which would probably preclude them from a licensed Greyhawk...
