[Greyhawk] Non-Flanaess?

The Green Man

What information was contained in Skip Williams' article on the remainder of Oerth from Dragon (not sure of the issue number)? Did this information date from the time Gygax was still involved w/ TSR (thereby considered "canon") or after his departure?

It was a load of crap and I'd avoid it. It has, I kid you not, places like Zindia and Erypt. Not to mention the Orc Reich...

Don't listen to Baseballfury, Gary was interested in an alternate Egypt long before he left TSR. If you loog at his Necropolis game, you will notice that it is set in an alternate Egypt. If you read his Gord of Greyhawk books, you will notice that he intended that the world had it's own Oriental area as well.

I doubt that Orc Reich was in his original vision. And from what I have read from the higher ups, it will be ditched very soon.

Aside from bashing the content... :D

That was in Dragon Annual #1 (1996). It contains a (one page)map of Oerth by Dave Sutherland and one page set of accompanying places names and short (very short, one or two sentences each) descriptions of the areas of the map. Most of that map made it into current GH lore (as the little whole oerth insert on the current LGG and D&DG poster maps), but the descriptions have been pretty much discredited and ignored by GH fans. I've seen copies of the map floating around the net, so if you can track one down, I'd not bother wasting your time tracking down the article, it is really not essential GH source material IMO.

The article claims it was dug from the piles of stuff sitting around TSR's old offices in Lake Geneva, but Gygax has disavowed any knowledge of it and denied it came from his notes, but I think only Sutherland and Williams know the actual source of the material.
