D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk or the Wilderlands

5E is as low magic as You want it to be. If you don't as the GM like the attunement rule don't use it. remember its your world make it as high magic as you want. if you want characters to be able to buy items them let them. look at a 1at ed DMG for price guide lines.

I have read the Wilderlands setting back to front, but never run it.

I currently run a high magic Greyhawk game that began in the Gazeteer period, adapted the starter set adventure and has lead to grand strategy, the potential re-unification of the Great Kingdom and the group are currently running through the Fortress of Conclusion in Return to the Tomb of Horrors, trying to stop Vecna (a little plot change here) from his plan to take over all undead. Another interesting twist is that the Tomb and environs was destroyed by the army of Ahlissa under the control of King Xavener who in turn is under the thrall of Orcus - who naturally doesn't want Vecna to succeed and steal all his power!

Greyhawk works great with 5th Edition - even with higher levels of magic... but I have to say that I would expect Wilderlands to work well too.

Where is this map from? It looks gorgeous, but a quick Google didn't find it.

I've got nothing to add to the conversation - never run or read either, sorry! - but I can't resist a beautiful map!

Not sure if the OP is still around here over a year after s/he started this thread, but since it was said a lot was borrowed from Tolkien, Cubicle 7 has started putting out 5th Ed books for play in Middle Earth. They would be good to look at if you are not sure about using Greyhawk or Wilderland in 5th Ed.
