I havent hit all the stuff revealed from DDXP yet, but can someone explain how Expert Flanker for the Grick is helpful? Does flanking not already give the flanker +2 to hit even in 4e?

19 AC, that was a typo. Flank gives combat advantage, which gives +2 and some other benefits (but doesn't stack with other things that give combat advantage, like prone, immobilized, etc)

So, an extra +2.

Gricks, grell, boneclaws...

Now it just feels like I got to choose the monsters for 4e's MM!

I'm a huge grick fan, but I had already reconciled myself to the fact it was gone -- but then, it returns, even better than before!

Yeah--it's like DR except you can't get past it without a special power which your class may or may not get. (Looking at the preview characters, IIRC the warlock, wizard, and cleric all had non-AC targeting powers, the rogue preview indicates that the rogue has a ref targeting power. On the other hand, the fighter, paladin, and ranger had all of their abilities target AC IIRC--maybe they'll get other powers as they increase in level, then again maybe not).

And here we thought they told us that DR wasn't fun and wouldn't be in 4th edition.

Perhaps gricks just cause bleeding wounds?

I like the Resist 10 any effects that target AC. DR in a different light.

Its not that DR isn't fun, its that absolute DR isn't fun. Basically, its the 3.0 iron golem scenario, with 50/+5 DR, the fighter might as well grab a chair and get a drink if he doesn't have the right weapon.

DR 10 in 4e is actually lower than it is even in 3.5e. Fighter types do more damage per swing, and only swing once. In 3e, much of a fighter's power is based on multiple attacks, which means the DR is multiplied. Further, even archers now get their dex added directly to damage, so while martials will have a harder time against gricks, they are far from ineffective.

Nobody ever said it "wasn't fun". Mearls or someone said it was annoying to balance, since it meant you had to differentiate between high damage single attacks and multiple lesser damage attacks, as well as attack bonus/AC.
