WOOHOO!

Thanks for the progress report, Kirin'Tor! Glad to hear that things are going well with the GT SRD and Character Generator. :)

Looking Forward To It,
Flynn

BTW, I've been meaning to ask. Is there anything we can do to help with the SRD effort? I have some coding skills and "boring data entry" skills. If I can chip in let me know.

I know that often it's more of a hassle than a help to try and coordinate such assistance for a project of this size, but it can't hurt to ask.

KIRIN'TOR: A feature request, if I may, since you haven't added Backgrounds yet?

Any way to insert custom backgrounds would be great, or just a general override. I'm planning on doing away with Backgrounds for my next GT games and just letting players build custom packages.

((In general I love overrides and data entry, since I tend to tweak and add to everything. ))

I'd be happy to work on an excel-based PC sheet if I could get ahold of GT. Seems that there are no electronic copies of it anywhere, nor an SRD. Couldn't find a hard copy either - I guess I'm gonna have to find a new FLGS. Let me see what I can do while building it in the dork... i mean dark.

I think at this stage, coordination might prove to negate any speed gained from extra workers, esp. since I'm a real nitpicker about the way HTML should be layout out.

I will be looking for betatesters for the CharGen at a point in the (hopefully not too distant) future. If you'd be interested, drop me an email (from whatever email you liek me to reply at) and I'll hang onto it until such time is upon us.

that goes for anyone- email me of you'd be interested in helping me get the kinks out of the chargen once it's beta-worthy. Mention GT CharGen & Beta in the subject, just so I'll notice ;-)

For the core SRD, I plan on adding the Backgrounds exactly as presented in the book, with one exception: Ben himself says he just uses a 'pick any 3' background these days, rather than the rigid ones. That background will be available as well.

I believe Amazon.com is still selling GT & Slavelords. Keep an eye on this thread (and the ENWorld news) for the SRD to be finished, I'd be happy to host your excel GT-Sheet on my site when you have it ready.

That's about what I suspected, but I wanted to offer. Thanks for all your work. I think there are a lot of us looking forward to it!

I hope you meant XHTML and CSS. But whatever. Once it's in an SRD, we all can display it using whatever tech we want.

Thanks again.

My site was already in straight HTML when learned about XHTML - and from what I've read, I'm not ready or willing to switch to a new markup language that major browser have issues with.

That said, I'm an avid HTMl 4.01 Strict writer, and every bit of the site validates under 4.01 strict, and CSS is all valid as well.

As a note, initial SRD will be less in the vein of WotC .rtf SRD, and more like the Hypertext SRD at d20SRD.org, as was Ben's request.

At a later time, if demand is high (and Ben OKs the idea) there could easily come an offline version, in a plain-text or RTF format. But for now, the data is all sorted in a database and HTML-formatted for the web by PHP.
