I'm interested in how the distinguished members of these boards think about the issue of firearms in D&D (There was some discussion in the Wizards minis boards, and boy the arguments some people brought up....
)
First, where do you stand in relation to guns and D&D (yes, I know, the best position is not in front of the muzzle): Do you use them all the time, are they a novelty or niche thing for you, or do you leave them out?
By guns, I mean the D&D-type gunnes. The stuff that has been in some former adventures and novels, I hear, and that is used by the Lantanese in the Realms: Basically, the stuff you can find under "Renaissance Firearms" in the DMG: Pistols and Muskets powered by gunpowder. Nothing as fancy as a Sig P228 or a Desert Eagle, or a G3 Rifle.
The second questions concerns DDM figures with gunnes. Would you want some? Would you mind them? Would they destroy the whole DDM thing for you and make you not buy any more figures? Would you want them to be a big part of DDM (like crossbows, bows, even swords) or do you think the occasional figure would be enough?
And, if you're for such figures, what would you want them to look like? Crazy artificer with a deathtrap in his hands, as dangerous to him as to his enemies? A simple contraption? Something else? A pirate with a pistol?
