Half Ogre: giant blood race feature

Miscreant

First Post
The Half-Ogre race as listed in Savage Species lists "Giant Blood" as a class feature. What exactly does this entail? The main question I have is can Half-Ogres throw rocks like a giant can?

Here is the relevant text(emphasis mine):

For all special abilities and effects, a half-ogre is considered a giant

If you look up giants in the MM it lists their rock throwing ability as an Extraordinary ability. In the PHB extraordinary abilities fall under the heading of "special abilities" and the text of Giant Blood in the half ogre description states that for all special abilities half-ogres are giants. Does that make sense or am I reading to much into this? Half-ogres are large and have enough strength to throw rocks. It makes sense to me that they could do it. If the local rules gurus could point in the right direction I'd apreciate it as I'm inclined to let my players do this.

Aside from possibly letting a half-ogre chuck rocks what else does this feature do?

If memory serves, it means for effects such as Charm Person and the like that effect specific types of creatures (i.e. humanoids, plants, constructs, giants, fey, etc)

It can be a negative aspect. You are subject to situations that affect giants... ie. Giant Bane weapons or spells that would specifically affect giants. This does not necessarily mean you get immunity to other things (but you may very well be immune to some things)... but I have not looked specifically at 'giant blood' for all the ramifications.

You do not get throw rocks just because of this 'blood' aspect (unless your DM just wants to grant it).

It lets giant bane weapons take a bite out of your ass.
It lets dwarves claim a 4 point dodge bonus against you.
It leats giant hunting rangers get a damage bonus against you.
It MIGHT render you immune to enlarge person, Hold Person, Charm person and Daze.

If it changed your type to Giant, you would have

Low-light vision. Proficient with all simple and martial weapons, as well as whatever type of armor (light, medium or heavy) it is described as wearing in you monster entry, as well as all lighter types and shields . Also being a giant means you have the need to eat, sleep, and breathe like most other creatures.

Only if the half giant got a MM write up with the other giants would it gain the following;

All giants speak Giant. Those with Intelligence scores of 10 or higher also speak Common.

Rock Throwing (Ex)
Adult giants are accomplished rock throwers and receive a +1 racial bonus on attack rolls when throwing rocks. A giant of at least Large size can hurl rocks weighing 40 to 50 pounds each (Small objects) up to five range increments. The size of the range increment varies with the giant’s variety. A Huge giant can hurl rocks of 60 to 80 pounds (Medium objects).

Rock Catching (Ex)
A giant of at least Large size can catch Small, Medium, or Large rocks (or projectiles of similar shape).

Once per round, a giant that would normally be hit by a rock can make a Reflex save to catch it as a free action. The DC is 15 for a Small rock, 20 for a Medium one, and 25 for a Large one. (If the projectile provides a magical bonus on attack rolls, the DC increases by that amount.) The giant must be ready for and aware of the attack in order to make a rock catching attempt.

Even if you won your argument, You must be large to use the rock throwing and catching abilties. Then your rocks are still unchuckable since they have no range increment.
