Half-orc revisions

Tolkien elves are simply overpowerful, it would need the SS rules or ECL to have some degree of party balance.

I never understand why elves must be similar to Tolkien elves ...

My take on 3.5 rules is that there is too much speculation ... even that my confidence of WotC had been on decline there is simply too speculation on what the changes will actually be and that is before they have actually finished playtested then, the "bits of info" we are getting is just development stage and I still belive someone over there is not going to allow things that would be 4th edition and not revised 3rd edition.

after reading it again, i think you're right. Those races may very well recieve some changes. Hmmmmm...

All hail the Blackguard!!

As for Half-elves....they don't exist. They're just a myth. I mean, really....have you seen one played at a gaming table?

In my experience, Half Elves and Half Orcs are not played very often.

I think they're ever so slightly less powerful than the other races, which is a great thing. If you think about it, Half Elves and Half Orcs are probably pretty rare people, and by being unpopular PC choices, they're pretty rare in the world as well.

The only true Tolkien elf is the black forest elf from the Hobbit. Not any wiser or smarter than anyone, but drunkards loving feasts and bad poetry.

Noldors and others are not normal elves, they are elves-that-have-seen-the-light-of-Valinor. It's indeed a template, for there is in the Silmarillion a dog-that-have-seen-the-light-blah-blah and it was a hero in its own right, having killed, among other feats, the werewolf boss of Morgoth.

I must have said that a thousand times to the folks on the wotcie boards.

One can hope that the changes includes various sub-race mix (e.g., half high elf, half drow elf, half wild elf, etc.).

Great. So, we would have to endure the 15 flavors of elves in the PH, as well as 15 flavors of half-elves ? And what about half-orcs ? We should have different stats for half-grey orcs.
