Hallow + Detect Magic

If this is the case, why not just have the Hallow effect be transparent? What is gained by having the Hallow itself create its own magical aura?
Well, imparting the detect magic on a creature certainly creates a magical aura, does it not? At the very least, the hallow itself (possibly with the detect magic) produces an aura. It's not about what benefit that provides, but that that's the way magical effects work. For instance, if you cast haste on yourself and two comrades, all three of you will radiate faint transmutation magic at the very least. I can't see that is being a benefit, but it happens. And, IMO, it's no differentt han the hallow.

And, indeed, casting Dispel Magic on one of you could end the Haste spell which causes that aura to radiate from all three of you...

Silence is probably the hardest to adjudicate. Would those subject to the effect not be able to speak, hear, or both?

Daylight and Darkness are another pair of interesting ones. In an otherwise dark room, would those to whom 'the effect applies' be able to see from the Daylight, while those to whom it doesn't be unable to see?

With Zone of Truth, 'the effect applies' means the people are treated as though in the area of the spell, right? So why would Detect Magic - another area spell - not behave the same? Rather than treating the people as though they are the caster of Detect Magic, should it not treat them as though they are in the area... that is, the original caster can detect magical auras on them?

If the Hallow is set to affect nonbelievers, and a nonbeliever is standing next to an invisible believer, then wouldn't 'the effect applies' of an Invisibility Purge cause the non-believer to radiate a sphere of power that negates invisibility within 5 feet (just as if he were the target of the spell)... thus including the believer?
