Well, imparting the detect magic on a creature certainly creates a magical aura, does it not? At the very least, the hallow itself (possibly with the detect magic) produces an aura. It's not about what benefit that provides, but that that's the way magical effects work. For instance, if you cast haste on yourself and two comrades, all three of you will radiate faint transmutation magic at the very least. I can't see that is being a benefit, but it happens.
