Hammer Implement

I thought I would call on the vast knowledge and imagination that is Enworld. I'm hoping for a few cool ideas for a player of mine, so anything you want to add is much appreciated.
He's a dwarf wizard, if ya haven't guessed, and would like to use a warhammer as an implement. I think its a cool idea, but want to keep it in line with the other three. He's sportin' a 12 str, so I don't feel it needs to be gimped for fear of power gaming. He's a skilled blacksmith and has a penchant for fire, which would be nice to tie it all together.
Any ideas?

Paragon path.

ahhh yes, good one generalhenry. I had considered a paragon path. Using the wizard of the spiral tower as a basis, but 11th level is too far away. We want madcoolfun right now, while he's just 2nd level.

wand + hammer + strap = hammerwand

it doesn't really touch game balance much at all.


Though just dual wielding hammer + orb, is pretty sweet

Perhaps you could take the staff, make all the defensive bonuses offensive, make it use Str instead of Con, and voila, a warhammer implement.

Nice ideas! That PDF is pretty cool stuff EnglishScribe! I think I may go with that idea. The staff as hammer idea has merit too. Hmm, I'll run these passed him and see what he thinks. Thanks all!

In my campaign, the dwarf cleric of Moradin has his divine symbol(s) carved into the head of his warhammer, so he strikes with it, or raises it up and points/brandishes it (much like a scepter).
