Amusingly, one of the things they do around here is have a big rally to pick up trash around the city... and the county recycling plant decided to burn all the recyclables collected instead of recycling them.

Talk about losing the spirit...

Interestingly enough, on this day in one of my classes we were discussing Kant's opinion that the earth is intrinsically worthless, and only worth anything because humans need it.
