hardness and HP of a Spiked Chain

This thread http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=165921 reminded me a question that came up in game once. What are the hardness and HP of a Spiked chain?

I was playing a spiked chain wielding fighter once and whenan opponent triedto sunder his weapon we realized the Weapo Hardness Table (SRD) doesn't have a good listing for it.

I think we ended up going with hardness 10 and 10 hp, any other ideas?

Chain (10 ft.) 30 gp 2 lb. Hardness 10, HP 5, Break DC 26

Chain, spiked 25 gp 10 lb.

I guess 10 HP is not bad given the density of the chain.

Well, the table has 3 categories: blades, metal-hafted weapons, and hafted weapons. Of those three, a spiked chain would probably fall into the metal-hafted weapons category. A two-handed blade and a two-handed hafted weapon both have twice as many hit points as a one-handed weapon in the same class, so it stands to reason that a two-handed metal hafted weapon would have twice as many hit points as a one-handed hafted weapon. A one-handed metal-hafted weapon has 20 hit points, so extrapolating from the table, I would say that a spiked chain has 40 hit points.

Yes seems correct (i.e. the same as a two-handed bladed weapon)
