of bland, rigid rules?

Have you gotten tired of coming to a d20 forum and insulting D&D's rules?

Maybe it's just me, but that's a guaranteed way to dampen my enthusiasm. Anyways, this sort of press release goes in the Publisher's Forum, so I'll shift it over.

The post does not mention d20, and the comment could actually apply to almost any game system. The point of it is that IF a person sees the rules they are using as "bland and rigid" then HARP is there to provide them with an alternative.

Nice to see something new pop up instead of.. Just another book of spells or the 6th book on dragons. Oh yeah, lets not forget a 2nd and 3rd players handbook. *chuckles* Now thats insulting.

Would you not be insulted if someone comes up to you and says "have you stopped beating your wife?" Regardless of you answer to this question, the insinuation is that you beat your wife. I know I'd be pretty insulted if someone came up to me and said that.

The introduction "are you tired of bland rigid rules" has the exact same structure. Regardless of the answer, the insinuation is that the rules I use are bland and rigid. In turn, the fact that I do not see my choice in rules as bland or rigid is a challenge to my taste in games. I didn't have to look for something to be insulted by. The insinuations are pretty clear. And even if I dismiss this as less than tactful and not really intentionally insulting, it's not the best way to advertise.

That was actually my point. Intentional or not, that statement might be counterproductive. It doesn't especially bother me either way, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Some times people need to learn to advertise better. This is my problem with some RL stuff. But that's another thing. Rasyr, tell us about this. If only cause you started this.
