HARP has been released!!! (NOT d20!!)

In defense of Rasyr (whom I've met in person and corresponded with at length since we were both writers for the Rolemaster system), I think the main thing he's guilty of here is a cut and paste job from the blurb on the back of HARP (I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it says that word for word). I think if he'd written something out to the effect that the game had been released and that it is worth checking out, it would have been more well received.

He wrote the system himself and I'm sure he's more than a tad biased. But he is not a D&D basher. This I know for certain because I've called other people on D&D bashing over at the ICE forums and Rasyr is also quick to point out the good points of D&D. It may not be his favorite system right now, but he seems to take a "different strokes for different folks" view that is common to ENWorld too.

So, was the OP something that could be perceived as insulting? Sure. Do I think it was meant to be insulting? No.

I encourage folks to check out the system. I think that what Rasyr has done with the magic system is innovative and interesting. I'll probably try and pick up a copy after Christmas.

I don't necessarily think Rasyr did anything wrong, but I do think, (in his usual manner) he leaped before looking. So Rasyr, my gift to your this Christmas, Nightfall's guide to TACT! It's only 9.95! ;)

Would you not be insulted if someone comes up to you and says "have you stopped beating your wife?" Regardless of you answer to this question, the insinuation is that you beat your wife. I know I'd be pretty insulted if someone came up to me and said that.

Guess it depends upon how mature you are really. As I said, some people look for insults and to be insulted.. Some can go beyond it. Your respond is how I think my teenage kids would handle something like that, not an adult.

Oh and my answer to that is No, I don't beat my wife but she does like a good spanking.. *chuckles*

College might cost you a pretty penny but common sense is free :)

heh. maybe Im "looking for insults or to be insulted" here but are you saying that he is immature for seeing something fairly obvious to the majority of posters? I saw it too and Im no teenage kid. Im not particularly offended or upset by the insinuation but that doesnt mean its not there.

Give it a rest, gang; it may be fun to type, but I didn't mean to start a brouhaha.

At this point, please keep this thread on topic.
