Harry Potter d20 -need some help

This looks good. Some questions, though:

It looks like there are a lot of skills. Are you awarding more skill points, or just expecting that people will sometimes be casting without ranks? This does explain why wizards seem to not have many non-magical skills.

Something I was thinking about after my last post: It seems like, in the books, just about all spells are rays. Spells are often described as missing and being dodged or blocked by cover. Do all spells require an attack roll?

While there is a great many magical skills the characters use, many of the spells you see in the movies / books only have a DC in the teens (most in the mid to low teens) and greater spells should only be available to those who have learned a lot in those classes.

Secondly since I am using the d20 modern has the base classes the skills are higher (ranging from 4 pts per level for the Strong Hero to 9 for the smart), and since I am running a game about wizards I do expect the players to put at least some points into Int for some more points each level......or to be somewhat handicapped (crabbe and goyle for example).

Also the base model for d20 modern hands out more feats to characters in their 10 levels of class and expects characters to multiclass. This way the skill focus and various multi-+2 feats will come into play. And if a player thinks his Strong 3/Fast 1 Hero is lacking in points then he can take a level of Smart Hero.

As for Rays, yes I am making most of the spells that have a damage discriptor into Rays, especially most of the Curses. One of the things I have been debating is to allow both a Ray attack and the need for a Saving throw on them as well.


Also one of the things I have been thinking about is to change the damage rules from hit point based to a damage save ala Mutants & Masterminds or the Blue Rose (they have quick play rules up at the Green Ronin Website or here http://bluerose.greenronin.com/blue_rose_support.php?id=P67
