D&D 5E "Harvesting" a dragon corpse for magic items

Other stuff? I'd love to hear your suggestions. And I'm sure the PCs will have some of their own ideas.
Hmm. Musical instruments: flute or horn made from a bone. Drums made from hide beaten by sticks made from the bone. Stringed instruments made from the bones and tendons.

Blood, bile or ground bones/claws/teeth for potions, oils or tattoos.

Wings made into an item with the same properties as a Cloak of the Bat, but with a Dragonlike aspect instead of batlike, that works within sub-zero temperatures or fog instead of darkness.

Feet and claws made into Boots of the Winterlands. Or Gloves that allow climbing on ice or burrowing through it.

Here's my minigame. I appreciate your critique and input.

In order to "harvest" material the PCs must succeed on three skill checks (one each of Arcana, Medicine and Survival) for each magic item they want to craft. Each skill check takes one hour and can be performed simultaneously if different characters are involved. The DC for each check depends on the rarity of the item to craft. If at the PCs accumulate three failed skill checks total then the corpse is ruined and no more material is available from this dragon.

Legendary magic item: DC 35
Very Rare: 30
Rare: 25
Uncommon: 20
Common: 15
Is this just for harvesting material, with a separate roll for actually crafting the item? I would suggest some tool proficiencies should get involved. Carpentry/woodcarver to shape bone, Leatherworkers for armour, Alchemists tools for the potion-type stuff etc.

I'd also suggest that you normalise the table a bit: If you don't want to allow them to make legendary items, take it off the table rather than setting an impossible DC. It might be cooler for the party to state what sort of thing they are trying to make, and you adjust the power level depending upon how well they do.

Provided that the party doesn't wreck the corpse completely, I'd allow nonmagical items to be made from any bits not used for crafting the magical stuff. Mostly for the bragging rights.
