Harvesting poison/venom?

Actually, I'd say making poison should be easier than antitoxin. The former is (usually) already poisonous, whereas the latter is a derivative.

OK then, make it easier. But dealing with poisons is dangerous.

Perils of Using Poison
A character has a 5% chance of exposing himself to a poison whenever he applies it to a weapon or otherwise readies it for
use. Additionally, a character who rolls a natural 1 on an attack roll with a poisoned weapon must make a DC 15 Reflex save
or accidentally poison himself with the weapon.

Shouldn´t this rule apply to making poisons as well?

Four weeks for one dose? Seems a bit too much effort.

It's a general problem with the crafting rules. WotC decided players shouldn't be using poison often so poisons were made arbitrarily expensive. Since time required to craft is a direct multiple of value, that means poisons take forever to make.

There are some good guidelines and rules for making poison in the BoVD, but I don't have it with me at work.

Luckily, I had it at home. ;)

This was the "official" ruling that I needed. When the players found out that the harvested venom wouldn't be usable without being refined (via Alchemy or the Craft skill) and that the raw venom was worth so little, they decided to forget the whole thing as worthless.

Thanks for the assist.
