Has anyone converted Temple of Elemental Evil to 3e?

the Original in its Original form is the only noteworthy module to play.

T1 Village of Hommlet. :D

the promised T2 Temple of Elemental Evil...i waited 5 years for that one. when it was released as T1-4 i was sadly disappointed. it was rife with errata. but it was still better than any attempt to return to...

return to returns to the mistakes of the T1-4 not the good stuff of T1.

Hmmm, I am another player of the old beige box edition, but prefer 3.5 to any of the older versions. The original had such charming features as unexplained acronyms, and illustrations (as far as I could tell) by a five year old with his mother's lipstick. :D

On the other hand I also agree that T1 was good,I like games that have a central mystery that drives the actions of the NPCs. (In my estimation The Village of Hommlet was the best thing Gygax ever wrote.) T1-4 on the other hand... wasn't good. Straight up dungeon crawl, no mystery, just puzzles, traps, 'n' monsters.

Return to the Temple returns to my least favorite part of the original adventure. On the other hand I did like what was done with the moat house.

you havn't lived until you have gone through the temple of elemental evil with only 2 players, both of which were playing necromancers!! BWaaaaaaa Ha ha ha
now THAT was some realy FUN :D

The original was a great adventure -- even if the lower levels of the temple are a fairly typical early D&D dungeon crawl. The Return is a good adventure; the major dungeon portion is huge, though, so that part of the adventure can drag a bit if your group isn't into dungeon crawling. The Return does fit very much in the style of the original, which was the intent.

Now, if you really want to play the original ToEE, the PC game ships today, and the demo (the moathouse dungeon) is due for release on Friday. If you like it, download the PDF of the original module, grab the conversion document, and run it for your PnP group (or just run the Return).

Actually, I am forbidden from playing the computer game, as I will not be the one running this. I was looking for it because a GM friend of mine who wants to run ToEE for our group was doing the conversion himself. I knew somebody must have done the work already.

We'll be starting on Saturday! SWEET!

So true. He sits around watching Original Cast SNL (all others are poor substitutes...) and listening to Three Dog Night when he's not playing OD&D.

Are there any story hours of original modules, either converted or not?
