Has anyone done the math on a TWF ranger with sword and shield?

Scimitars as light weapons are actually bad because of Power Attack... Oversized TWF is better... yet that build needs soooo many feats. :(
Dervish does not make scimitars light weapons, it alows you to treat them as light weapons for the purpose of TWF.

i.e. You can still use power attack.

That leads to my other thought, though. Are sheilds considered light weapons? I'm not sure that is a thing that has been addressed. IMO no. Certainly not Heavy, and likely not Light either.

IMO. YMMV. ETC.

Sure about these scimitars? Last time I remember the ruling was different.

Look at the weapon table, heavy shields are one handed weapons, light shields are light weapons.

Ah, but with a shield, the character can opt to not attack with his shield and thereby remove the to-hit penalty. And while you only get 1x Str and 1x PA, your AC is significantly better. But is the AC better enough to compensate for the reduced damage?
In D&D, defense is a losing game. If you have to choose between the two, you're generally better off killing your opponent faster than you are avoiding getting hit.
