D&D 4E Has the 4E Announcement Changed Your Buying Plans?

Doesn't effect me at all.

From what I've seen so far, I'm probably more likely to use a Star Wars Saga Edition-based system for my Tactics/RPG needs and use Spirit of the Century for less position-based gaming. Since 3.5 material is largely compatible with SWSE, I have exactly as much incentive to buy it as I did before. The Monsternomicon 2 being a good example of something I'll likely pick up.

I suppose it changed my purchasing plans in that I'll want to pick up the 4e core.

Definitely! Now I'm absolutely not going to buy any adventure modules anymore. The ones I've already got will definitely last until 4th ed. is out. And I don't want to have to update any of them. I already had to update lots of 3.0 adventures to 3.5 - not my idea of time well spent.

Actually, I'll probably not get anything for 3.5, anymore because there's absolutely no chance that any of these will ever get translated into German, which is a requirement for a book to be used in our group.
An exception would be books that are mainly fluff and DM only. Dragons of Eberron might fit into that category. Ah, time will tell.

nope, the announcement hasn't changed what 3.x i'm buying as i haven't bought anything 3.x since.... well i can't remember. then again the only 3.x product i have is three 3.0 PH's and a 3.0 DM's Guide and 3.0 MM.

I am selling older edition stuff though. check out my thread in marketplace if interested.

No.

Looking at the list of things I was going to purchase in the next eight months pre- and post-announcement, there is no discernible difference.

Now, there is a certain sense of relief that there won't be anything else coming before May that they just happened to forget to include on the catalogue that I'll have to pick up.

Like a lot of the posters here, it has. Until 4E, I'm done with buying anything from WotC. What would the point be? I'm right in the middle of Shackled City, so hopefully I'll finish up that by the dawn of 4E and then be able to move on.

I'm really going to go a step beyond most people and get rid of my newer 3.5 splatbooks as well: I really haven't had time to get anything out of most of them yet, so why really bother? I'm sure someone somewhere had the chance to play a factotum in a campaign, but things haven't worked out where something was started.

It's too bad that Pathfinder just launched as well: it looks like an awesome first adventure path, but I won't be running a new one until the next edition of the rules.

I am of the same mind as the right-honorable gentleman from Barbaria.

Now I'm seeing Korgoth in a 3-piece suit addressing Congress. :)

I still don't know (obviously, since we know so little) if I'll be buying 4E, but for me next May can't get here fast enough. I'm intensely curious about whether I'll be kissing that $100 goodbye or not.

Yea - I'm not a huge purchaser of D&D books anyway, but I'd been kind of wanting to pick up the Spell Compendium - something I won't buy at all now.

I still do want to get Necromancer's Book of Artifacts, which I think will be largely unaffected by the 4e move, and I do want to also get the FR Faiths and Pantheons book, because it's mostly fluff anyway (I've been using the 2nd edition version of it IMC).

And maybe Tegel Manor when it finally releases.

That's about it.

Now that 4E has been officially announced, has it changed your mind about what gaming products you are going to buy in the lead up to 4E's release?
No. I'm still planning to buy Dragons of Eberron, City of Stormreach, and the Eberron Survival Guide; I'm still going to subscribe to (and use) Pathfinder; I'm still contemplating the Wizards Presents books, but am unsure if I'll need them or if I'll get my information fix through D&D Insider.

Edit. Oh, I tell a lie. Now I'm not sure I'm that interested in Elder Evils. I need to wait and see what exactly it contains to see whether or not it's worth buying for the background and flavour.

Yes it has. I was going to spend the money on a few more 3.5e WotC books but now we know that its getting the axe I don't really see the point.
