Running out of arguments I see.

Trying to up your post count I see.

I've already posted the relevant things regarding your fallacious argument. At this point, from my point of view, it's all a circular argument.

You say the sky is red, I tend to disagree.

While I generally agree with you, a good DM should have a firm grasp of the rules of the game, IMO. Where DMing 3e broke down was in requiring DMs to also have a firm grasp of the feats & spells (of which there are legion) on top of that. Or to do a lot of prep work in figuring out how those feats & spells interact with your NPCs in advance.

I suspect this would come down to what counts as "the rules" vs what is the extra stuff and that once we agreed on those definitions, we'd largely agree on substance.

To Forever Slayer.

You raised this thread, then just about everyone disagreed with you. Then, when they did, you post entry after entry after entry about how they were wrong.

Perhaps, given it was a subjective point in the first place, you should try saying to yourself "Hmmm, I raised an issue of opinion and everyone disagreed with me...maybe there is something I could take on board from that".

Of course, you could continue arguing the point and achieving...well, I dont know what you would achieve by arguing the point. Hell you can even tell me Im wrong. I have a feeling you will

Have fun and best of luck with your ...what was it, 4 games at once?

When it comes down to the same few people arguing with you that doesn't make what you say automatically wrong or your opinion a bad one.

No opinion is wrong, by definition thats what an opinion is.

I just remember once my work send our group to a communication specialist for some training and he said something very profound :

"Feedback only has value to the recipient, never the giver. People who spend their time arguing against feedback that is contrary to their position are people who never wanted it in the first place"

Maybe, in all of this, what you should try saying is.

"Thanks guys, this is a forum, and it has done a great job of helping me understand where my contemporaries sit in regards to my observations. I think I can take all of this on board and incorporate it into my game and DMing in general."

Of course, you can keep counterpointing. Its your choice.

And we're back to the issue of natural selection again. The reason why most people post in this forum is that they play or DM 4e. And for some of them, they have played or DMed 3e before, and decided to make the switch. Hence, they are actually speaking from experience when they express the view that changing monsters in 3e is more time-consuming than changing monsters in 4e. So, it's going to take more than weakly-supported assertions to change their minds.
