Have a Character Concept i need to define with Classes

Actually i was thinking maybe Ranger/Wiz/Bladesinger.

I think the ranger beign a being a warrior with "nature overtones" works well to represent a Elf Warrior. They also have access to stuff like hide and move silently as a class skill so i wouldn't need the Rogue levels. I wouldn't need open lock etc as there is already a designated hardcore rogue in our group. I'd probably use the spell-less version of the ranger from CW as in a roleplaying sense having both Divine and Arcane spells is weird to me. Only thing that would be wierd is that a ranger specialises in dual wield which might be a problem with the bladesinger as they like only using one weapon with one hand free... hmm not sure.

That sounds pretty cool to me. Lots of skills with the ranger, and a +1 BAB, would make it easy to get the prereqs and the "special ops" skills you're looking for. Edit: It wouldn't work so well for spellsword, which needs medium & heavy armour proficiency.

Unless you plan on taking 6 levels as a spell-less ranger, the spell-less ranger doesn't do you any good. All you need for 1st level spells is an 11 wisdom.

(If having a hand free is necessary, you can always take the archery path and when it comes time to use a bow, you can fire off more arrows than normal.)

I have a Elf in mind. Melding Swordsmanship with spells. I see them as being nimble (obviously a finesse fighter) that also can sneak around from time to time. Think non-oriental ninja / Special forces with some elven magic backing them up. Now i have to start at level 1 so they wont be able to do everything from the get go but what clases both reg and PrC would i take to maximize their potential.
Arcane Trickster... or a straight Druid.

I see the bladesinger to be a combination of swashbuckling and wizardry, so my suggestion would be to chose those two classes. Sadly WotC seem to have another opinion since a swashbuckler/wizard couldn't become bladesinger before 10th level (needing 4 feats).

They should have dropped one of the four prereq. feats and taken combat finesse instead. Bladesingers don't rely on strength to hit opponents, they have agility and their minds. Such a change would open that prc for swashbuckler/wizards at 7th level which seems fair to me.

Greets, Quez

PS: IMHO the prereqs shoould allow weapon focus (elven thinblade) in addition to longsword and rapier.

In 3.5, the ranger could go for archery feats instead, which might dovetail nicely with "ray" spells. Or Arcane Archer could be thrown in the mix...

Ranger/Wiz/Bladesinger.

This accualy sounds pretty decent. You get the fighting skills, plus some steath type skills. Toss in a couple lvls of wizard and you can attack from a distance and come in for the kill.

IMO, most reasonable DMs would let the 5th level Swashbuckler ability stand in for the Dodge requirement for the Bladesinger. That means a Swash5/Wiz1 can qualify for Bladesinger. Maybe not quite what you're looking for, since there's no stealth there, but it might be something to consider.

Swashbuckler is a very nice way to go with a bladesinger character, since at 3rd level you can add your Int bonus to weapon damage with your dueling weapons. Adding Int to both damage and AC makes for some pretty nasty stuff you can do.

Hmmm... depending on how much you want to min/max the character, Ftr2/Swash3/Wiz1/BladesingerX might not be a bad way to go. Rgr2/Swash3/Wiz1/BladesingerX would fit the concept better, but unless you can convince your DM to allow one of the feat requirements for the bladesinger as a ranger combat style, you won't be able to qualify for it yet.

Personally, I've been wanting to do a Ranger 3/Sorcerer 6/Eldritch Knight 10/Archmage 1 combination for a while. Two-weapon fighting and a few extra abilities from the Ranger, build up your magic with Sorc/EK/Archmage. You do lose some spellcasting (4 levels worth), but that's going to happen no matter what melee class you work into this blend.
