No flips for you!
I recommend bard mixed with fighter levels ending up with bladesinger. I didn't want to play a bard either, but our party needed a face man, and the skill list is quite impressive. As the character developed, it actually became a great benefit for roleplaying, as I could introduce myself as a bard and be quickly discounted as a threat. No one fears bards! My build is bard 3 /fighter 3 /bladesinger 7. I only lost 1 BAB, have great saves for reflex and will, and my fortitude isn't bad either. I plan to get my levels in bard and fighter up to 4, which give an extra feat and saving throw bonuses across the board.
If your GM will allow it, consider some of the non WOC feats that allow you to sub DEX for STR for damage. Most only allow you to do this with the selected weapon, and there are precedents in the monk class (what with WIS) and other prestige classes. That gives you great flexability and finesse, and still allows you to deal a reasonable amount of damage.
