Have I Been Bitten by a Were-Grognard?

Yes, you've contracted grognard-canthropy. However, the condition is relatively safe to live with, unless you find yourself oft-repeating the mantra "OD&D is the one true game ...", at which point it is clear your case is fatal.

Hi

Welcome to the pack

M/C BD&D > 1E > 2E > 3.5E > C&C > LL > C&C > 4E > C&C/LL > 4E > SWVOD&DIM > 4E

Where you are a Were-grognard, I am schizophrenic-grognard. That brief iteration is the progression of versions I have DM'd since I started DM'ing in 1982.

blah.

Half price books is a pretty amazing place for nostalgia purchases, isn't it? I miss the downtown Seattle gaming shelf.

It used to be that you could snap up some vintage paperbacks for half cover price, even if they were very old, which sometimes meant getting $0.75 classics for $0.37! Now all the local stores seem to have a "vintage" section where they charge $3 - $5 for them, though they do put them in plastic and only carry the cleaner copies. I try to get to five of the six Illinois locations as often as I can and rarely come away empty handed.

I have been warned that one might be bitten (and subesquently turned, if deemed worthy) by Grogsfenardu, while visiting these realms.

The situation is worse even than I had thought...

I found that I was doing the samething a few months back, casting about for a new system, but found the old school as unsatisfactory as what I was playing then.I finally settled on Pathfinder but I dont know if Im sold on that yet.........
