Heh been to lots of messageboards and never once have I seen someone post about how they don't like "ppl". I know someone will come back with "Well you must not be at mature messageboards like ENWorld :)". *shrug* I guess i find it amazing ppl take time out of their day to try to convince people to use the word people instead of ppl. Whatever floats your boat.
Or you could just write proper english as a courtesy to those of us for whom english is a second language. While I have no trouble understanding a proper word like "people", I flinch at "ppl" and have to re-read and decipher the sentence.

So, for those that think orcs should be a PC race, what race should be the savage, unwholesome, unrepentent tool of the Dark One?

I vote for gnolls (who I chose to be my "klingons" many moons ago and need to go back to being horrible heyena men).

Gnolls, Goblinoids and Ogres could fit the bill (although I like playing those as PCs too!) :)

I thought Eberron orcs were the first druids, who fought and sealed away a lot of the bad guys before the humans and elves came over.

That seemed to be an interesting aspect for the orcs, I thought.
Yes. It's the goblinoids, especially the hobgoblins, who have the "warrior ethos".

Err, Half-Orcs are creepy because... how did that courtship go?
He walked into the room, then walked out, leaving a couple of coppers on the nightstand. Oh, he'd rather have gone to someone else, but the human women charged more, and he couldn't really afford it. A man has needs, and has to get them filled as best he can, eh?

Oh, it wasn't a love match by any means. But she'd inherited a prosperous farm when her parents suddenly died, and needed a strong man to help maintain it. It didn't help her any that she was rather ugly, by human standards at least. Oh, there were human suitors in town to choose from, of course, but they were all lazy, alcoholic, exceptionally stupid, or criminal -- human trash. He was a pretty reliable guy from one of the better orc families living on the edge of town, and was actually pretty romantic about how he'd gone about courting her. For his part, well, she was pretty attractive for a human, there weren't any orc girls in town that he was really interested in, and that farm really would set him up nicely.

When she looked over to who was next to her in the bed, she realized that she might have had a bit too much to drink last night.

The war had been long, and there were few males who had been able to come home after the peace settlement. The village had wound up on the human side of the new border, and there was now a human garrison in the castle. Oh, they didn't force themselves on anyone, but after a while, well, the girls had to find someone to marry, didn't they? The pattern of conquerors finding wives among the conquered was well-attested in the histories of both humans and orcs; of course it played out again in a mixed human-orc situation.

I wouldn't shed a single tear for half-orcs or any other "half" race. How drunk does a human have to be to go to bed with an orc?? Theres ugly women, and then there's green-skinned, tusk-mouthed, bodybuilder, Klingon-looking women. Doesn't make sense to me, they should just make orcs a core race and be done with it.

It gets lonely out there on the keep.

I would much rather see Hobgoblins as the "brutish" player race and of course I still wish they would not give a slot to half-elves as 3 races of elviness is a couple too many.

That said it would be cool to see a small sized darker race such as goblins or kobolds.
