Have you bought any books because they won an ENnie?

I can't say that I've bought a book *because* it won an ENnie (although I likely own some previous ENnie winners by now). I can say that I give the winners, and the runners up, a much longer look than I might otherwise give the product. And if I like what I find on my own, I get the book.

The ENnies ensure I look at your work. Your work determines whether or not I buy the book.

Several. The lastest was Magical Medieval Society. I think the first was Book of Righteous Might.

There are two for me. This year only Redhurst was influenced by the Ennies, I already owned all the rest of the nominees and winners in the categories I am interested in. Meaning the products I was actually interested in, I do not own everything. The Ennies have made me look at and consider many products I would have never looked at otherwise. I have bought about 6 products because of their Ennies awards. Heck, they started my being a Necromancer fanboy because of the Crucible of Freya and Wizards Amulet awards made me become aware Necromancer even existed.

Since I now own everything Necromancer has published (Except the Zayenne series), the Ennies was a boon for them. The ennies also made me look at and start buying Green Ronin and Fiery Dragon as well.

Midnight. I had heard a few good things about it, but it wasn't really on my mind, or my shopping list. After the ENnie, I took notice, decided to read some reviews, and quickly decided I definately needed to buy it. It's been one of the better gaming purchases I've ever made, so thank you ENnies. :)

Oh, I forgot! Last year I bought Midnight because it won. Since then I've purchased everything that has come out for the line, and will continue to. But it was the Ennie award that made me think it was worth another look, sort of like Grim Tales this year.

I can put Midnight down as well. As for others, I'd have to see a list of nominations/winners from past years and then compare that with the dates on my checking account. But, for me, yes, winning ENnies does influence my decisions.

Edit: Found a list of old winners. I can add Mutants & Masterminds, Oathbound, and Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe from 2003. Thee Compleat Librum ov Gar'Udok's Necromatic Artes, Darwin's World (1st version, although I think I got it in the EN Publishing/Polyhedron package, but in either case, DW was the main aim of the purchase), and Oriental Adventures.

Best,
Nick

I hope that, in the vein of books that the ENnies encourage you to take a second look, more people consider giving FFG's Horizon line a second look. I really sort of brushed it off until I saw the actual product. Both Grimm and Spellslinger are excellent products, and Redline is good as well.

It will increase my interest because I see it as some possible indication of quality, though I continue to scrutinize it before purchase.
