So, Gnolls. They're monstrous non-PC things canonically in 5E (previously were humanoid, but pretty monstrously behaving).

Have you played one in previous editions or this edition? Do you have a friend who did? Did you never really want to before you learned this, but now really do?

I am toying with a gnoll replacement (more along the lines of Runequest's broo, which operate in the same thematic space) and making it a playable ancestry in Shadowdark, although it would be one of the "uncorrupted" tribes, rather than evil demon-worshipping ones.

Doesn't Kobold Press have gnolls available as a PC race in their Southlands setting?

3.5e the party had a gnoll ranger which at the time wasnt that weird (in another campaign I played a Ghoul Gladiator (Psychic Warrior) and in another a Willowisp Psion).

The gnoll in question played something of the 'noble savage' hunter stereotype.
