Have you ever lucked out before?

Yes. So are our 10, 13, and soon to be 15 year old children. They are my gaming group since we moved here last December 2nd.

I think that I did for the first time. A few weeks ago I was surfing the internet and somehow ended up at a D&D Meetup site.

So what about you? Ever lucked out, D&D related or otherwise?
I found out about that D&D Meetup site, and found one of the better players in the group through there. Can't say enough good things about the guy :)

So, yeah, I lucked out. Unfortuantly, I met a guy and his girlfriend through there who were a case. They recently resigned from my game, after playing an "amazing" set of two sessions

After moving to another country (the US), I went on AccessDenied, and sent some e-mails. Only got one response, but it worked out pretty good, been gaming with those guys for 2 years. Sadly, the DM moved away shortly after I joined, and after a few games started out and died, I finally figured out that I needed to DM. So that part sucks a lil (I'm not that crazy about DMing, vastly prefer playing) but oh well.

Actually I'm leaving later today for a week-end of gaming (RPGs and boardgames) at one of the guys' wood cabin, so that should be cool.

We needed a player and the GM asked a coworker if she would like to join us. She did. About 7 or 8 months later we started dating. 6 months after I proposed. 9 months after we got married. on Nov. 22 it will be 3 years. We still hold hands and people come up to us and think we are on our honeymoon. Best new player EVER!

I had been searching for a good group in my area for years, but every group I found had some problem: too far away. Too many cats (I'm allergic). Not my style.

Then, randomly, I got an e-mail from a guy who works for the same company I do. He had seen some of my earlier messages on various boards, and e-mailed me. So I joined his group, and it rules.

That was the lucky part.

Then he decided to stop DMing, and I am now DMing. For 7 players. Not sure if that's lucky or not. It's sure a helluva lot of work. :)

We had been thinking about adding some more players to our group, since it happens more often now, that people have other obligations, and when there are fewer than three or four, it doesn't make much sense to play usually.

So, I asked this guy I knew from the hobby store, who seemed nice and reasonable enough and who was also interested in RPGs AFAIK. Coincidentally, his group had just broken up, and they were now down to only two (himself included, I also had seen the other guy once). So, I invited them in and they have been an enriching addition ever since. :)

Bye

Yeah, my wife and I still hold hands and stuff. We still occassionally get asked how "recently" we were married, but we only get that question the rare times our kids aren't with us.

Then we get the "Its so nice to see people who are still so happily married after so long."
