Of course, it's hard to come from a language where you use "the" for everything to another where you have to discriminate between the words' genders before choosing the appropriate article. So rather than "Der Kluge", Curtis took "Die Kluge" and thus his Internet persona is female for everybody who know a bit of German.
BTW, the same "error" was featured in one episode of the Simpsons. Somebody tries to claim that his "Die, Homer, die!" tract/T-shirt/letter/other (don't remember) weren't a death threat, but just a harmless German sentence: "The Homer, the."
