I have a friend who's Japanese-Hawaiian.

A few years ago, I caught him eating spam sushi.

Apparently "It's traditional, man!"

Spam sushi. It's not right!

I hope you mean spam musubi.

Yes, it's cooked sliced of spam with rice wrapped in nori.

I'd take this over Big Mac.

Some other places that you mihgt like to go are Manoa Falls and Waimea Falls Park. If I recall, both are on the northern side, or on the way to the North Shore.
If you like scuba or snorkelling, Hanauma Bay is supposed to be great (but its closed on Tuesdays).

The prevailing winds are from the northwest, so the NW side of the islands are more rainy, while the SE side if the islands are more sunny

(so if you don't like the weather, drive around till you find weather you do like.)

The rice has added vinegar, right?

Which makes spam musubi a type of sushi, made with spam... hence 'spam sushi'. I stand by my usage of the phrase :)

Actually, most don't have sushi rice (which is rice mixed with rice wine vinegar). I never care for that. The flavor comes from the spam which has been cooked/sauteed in a splash of soy sauce and a dash of sugar.

Some usually put minced nori flakes between the spam and rice before wrapping it in nori wrapper. A breakfast version have folded scrambled egg instead of nori flake. Our local 7-Eleven stores (but not limited to) have assorted musubi, and not just spam.

Mmmmm, Spam delicacies. I'll have to try that. God help me, I love that stuff. I once worked for a Captain who made an awesome "Spam a l'Orange".

OK, now I'm hungry.
