HBO and Ricky Gervais's Extras

Just watched the 3rd ep. Hilarious! I didn't get all of the references to Eastenders but I thought it was brilliant. Gervais has great timing.

The scenes with his agent are priceless. I am worried, though, that the show is going to repeat itself a bit too much with the same jokes. We'll see, I guess.

I agree here. there's only so many uncomfortable situations you can put him in and laugh at how he nervously babbles on. The same with the ditzy girl routine.

What I laughed at the most in the 2nd episode was when he was making the off remarks while she was trying to talk to the agent at lunch. That was good.

They seem to be showing them out of order from this list which, guest stars-wise, has Stiller, Jones/Kemp, Winslett, Dennis, Jackson, Stewart. What we've been shown here in the states so far have been Winslett, Stiller, Jones/Kemp. I imagine that the Dennis episode will, like the Jones/Kemp episode, have a number of UK-centric jokes that might be lost on the US audience. I'm also wondering if this is really only a six-part series, as those linked listings seem to indicate, or if it is merely on hiatus.

I found the Dennis episode to be just as good as, say, Winslet, because while I'm sure there were things I would have laughed at if I knew him, they weren't nearly as obvious as Jones/Kemp (though there were some, I was able to follow in context).

Also, because it changes the overall plot, I'm sure that the Stewart one will be last.

I watched the Jones/Kemp episode and it was funny but not as enjoyable as the first two. I'm sure it was due in part to not having a clue who Kemp is and never seeing the EastEnders. Maybe if it had had more Vinnie Jones.:)

EDIT: The parts with his agent were great though, especially the bio he was reading.

It served him well in The Office. I was concerned that this new show would simply be an extension of the same thing... which it kinda is, but he's managed to keep it pretty fresh. That said, chances are he'll probably only do two or three seasons.

Nah. It's normal practice to have 6 or 8 episodes in a season here in the UK.

Number five of six tonight -

Episode #05.
Andy's agent gets him a speaking role as a gay genie in a stage adaptation of ``Aladdin.''
