HBO - GREEN LIGHT to Game of Thrones!

I still can't justify the extra $50 a month it'll cost me for the required upgrade to my cable plan that would be necessary to get HBO. :) And that's not even counting the set-top boxes they're making everybody but "basic" subscribers buy now, or the headache of figuring out if said set-top boxes will work with the computer I'm using as a DVR. :p

If it was as simple as adding that one channel then Game of Thrones alone would probably be enough to make me add it, but unfortunately things don't work that way. :erm:

Well, at least they are pretty quick to put things out on DVD nowadays, so you shouldn't have to wait long if you go that route.

That sucks. I guess I am spoiled by being able to log into directv.com and just adding my programming and it automagically appears. :) (not without a bill, of course).

This looks cool. If HBO had not done Rome, I would have been skeptical. Since I really enjoyed Rome I'm hoping for the best.

As for no HBO, yeah, I'm in the same boat. I'll wait for the DVD and rent it from Netflix or something.

Imagine how many comments this thread would have if Martin was actually publishing books in the series....

Ha, hah.

George, get off your butt and finish the book. It's off-season now. Finish it before pre-season.

It was a serious comment, actually. Not a complaint. This series had a ton of steam, people were really, really into it. Now, many people I know are giving up hope. And, there were all of 4 or so comments about a show that was green lighted. I really think the steam is out of the series. However, it could come back, but right now, not so much.

It certainly doesn't help that GRRM delivered his last chapter with Jon Snow on the Wall to his publisher....10 years ago next month.

So yes, been a long time since we rock and rolled.

That said, I do think that A Storm of Swords is the best damn book I ever read.

I'm pretty pissed about the wait. GRRM may not be my bitch - but I'm not his, either. I sure as hell feel like one though.

For all that - this July, 2010, A Game of Thrones will be filming in N. Ireland and The Hobbit will be shooting in New Zealand. If Lucas starts production on the Star Wars Live Action series this summer too, it will be a Perfect Storm: The Geek Trifecta.

Antici.....pation [/Frank-N-Furter]
